Created in 1977 by Mr Siegel, former Managing Director of Europe 1, the magazine VSD (Vendredi, Samedi, Dimanche) distributed 400,000 copies per month. In 1996 the magazine was acquired by Prisma, which sold it in 2018 to Georges Ghosn.
Difficulties in this transfer led the company to be placed in judicial reorganisation proceedings, resulting in the approval of a reorganisation plan in April 2021. Against a backdrop of rising paper and energy prices, VSD became unable to meet the plan's instalments.
By judgment dated 1 February 2023, the Paris Commercial Court terminated the reorganisation plan and ordered the judicial liquidation of VSD with continuation of activity until 31 March.
A tender process was then launched by the judicial administrator, at the end of which seven candidates submitted acquisition offers. By judgment dated 7 April 2023, the Paris Commercial Court approved the sale plan in favour of Heroes Media, preserving the majority of jobs while respecting the DNA of the title.
Squadra Avocats (Charles Morel, partner, and Ombeline Chaboureau) acted as counsel to Heroes Media.
